Editing Mode:Spring Clean-up

Hello Everyone,

Spring is here! In my yard and beyond all the buds are fat and ready to burst. My yard needs some cleaning from the last wind storm, but it’s wonderful to see the plants and trees and shrubs come back to life. At this time in the world I needed to see renewal and hope for the future even if it’s only in my little patch of earth.

Beyond Diamonds, my fourth historical novel set in the late 19th century is in rewrite and editing and rewrite and … I have a deadline and it’s really got me going. So much fun to get to the end of the my book then go back and start the clean-up. My protagonist, Jane Cabot desires the things that only money can buy. What about the thing money can’t buy? The missing piece is for her to find.

My interest in gardening has spilled over into this novel as Jane becomes interested in horticulture when her parents want her to become interested in culture, society and the proper place for a woman. When she falls in love with Martin, against her parent’s wishes she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for.

I’ve found time to do a watercolor. It helps to rest my mind and spirit. I hope you enjoy. It’s my rendition of one of the botanical arts from -The Book of Flowers, Pierre Joseph Redoute.

Thanks for visiting,

Peace and Love,

Veronica

My second book – SACRED TERRAIN –IMG_2838
was published in 2020.
I’m so excited to bring to life this saga of Jessica Messing, a woman artist. The struggles she faces with her family, her passion for art and her secret love for Jacob Stanford, all set in the back drop of America in the late eighteen hundreds.

Thank you for your support! Have  a great week!

Good Morning!
It’s a beautiful day in May- a little drizzle but that helps my flower and veggie beds!

I am ready to tackle more editing on my second book in my historical fiction series. Having written the whole series I am in the process of refining. Editing, eating, editing, it’s one of the most important steps in this wonderful process

Speaking of series, I’d like to recommend a great series of books to all you historical fiction fans.
Sara Donati’s Into the Wilderness is such a great read! Adventure, history, romance it has it all.  Her subsequent novels~Dawn on a Distance Shore~ Lake in the Clouds~and Queen of Swords follows the lives of the Bonner family from the late 1700’s and forward. The characters seem so real, I feel I know them!
I’m working my way through the series but took a break to read her novel ~The Gilded Hour~ I so enjoyed that one! There’s a little surprise in there too… I won’t give it away but I love how she tied in some of her other works to this story about women doctors in New York City in the 1800’s.

Reading other author’s historical fiction has helped me to widen my scope and really put myself out there with my own writing. No fear!

Have a wonderful day!
Peace and Love
Veronica
