Editing Mode:Spring Clean-up

Hello Everyone,

Spring is here! In my yard and beyond all the buds are fat and ready to burst. My yard needs some cleaning from the last wind storm, but it’s wonderful to see the plants and trees and shrubs come back to life. At this time in the world I needed to see renewal and hope for the future even if it’s only in my little patch of earth.

Beyond Diamonds, my fourth historical novel set in the late 19th century is in rewrite and editing and rewrite and … I have a deadline and it’s really got me going. So much fun to get to the end of the my book then go back and start the clean-up. My protagonist, Jane Cabot desires the things that only money can buy. What about the thing money can’t buy? The missing piece is for her to find.

My interest in gardening has spilled over into this novel as Jane becomes interested in horticulture when her parents want her to become interested in culture, society and the proper place for a woman. When she falls in love with Martin, against her parent’s wishes she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for.

I’ve found time to do a watercolor. It helps to rest my mind and spirit. I hope you enjoy. It’s my rendition of one of the botanical arts from -The Book of Flowers, Pierre Joseph Redoute.

Thanks for visiting,

Peace and Love,

Veronica

A Spot of Tea

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.

I wanted to share more cards with you since that is what I’ve been doing lately. Since the third book of my Traveled Heart Series -Unending Trails – has launched I’m taking a slight breather from writing.

If you have any questions on the supplies and techniques I use to make my cards feel free to ask in the comments.

Have a creative day,

Peace and Love,

Veronica

A Passion for Art-post updated 4/12/21

Good Monday Morning You!

When writing about my character Jessica Messing in Traveled Hearts @Amazon.com   I soon realized I loved painting as much as she does and in the last few years I’ve gotten back into it and have been painting a lot more.

Learning new techniques and practicing almost daily has been rewarding and frustrating. One of the things I’ve learned to do … or I should say not do, is compare my art with other artists. Everyone has their own style. As much as I’d love to be loose with my watercolors, or precise and botanical I end up doing my own style. Like writing, art is very subjective. Find your own style and progress from there.

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

It was an art filled weekend for me! I want to share a few of my works with you.

The Marigold was done with watercolor brush pens. They are a bit limiting but I love the colors and convenience. I have to be careful not to get too heavy handed because they  can get muddy really fast. The Bird of Paradise was done with traditional watercolors. I feel I have more choices with my watercolor palette. I can mix any color I want. As with all creativity the more you do the better the results. Again, I must give credit to Rachel  Reinart and her book- In Bloom. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills.
