This weekend I downgraded my website since I didn’t need all the bells and whistles to bring to you my content.
Unfortunately, they removed my entire website! Not being the best at WordPress and their lingo I thought they would simply restore what I had and take off any extras like plug-ins and such, but they restored my older website.
Today, I meet with my daughter and website designer to take my older website and bring it up to date.
Good news is, I will not only be blogging about my books,Traveled Hearts, Sacred Terrain and my recent release- Unending Trails, ( available on Amazon.com) but also about my art and card making and gardening, maybe a recipe now and then.
My second book – SACRED TERRAIN –
was published in 2020.
I’m so excited to bring to life this saga of Jessica Messing, a woman artist. The struggles she faces with her family, her passion for art and her secret love for Jacob Stanford, all set in the back drop of America in the late eighteen hundreds.
Thank you for your support! Have a great week!
Peace and Love ,
Veronica
What a beautiful Christmas  we had. The grandkids were beyond excited and my house was filled with children’s wonder and energy! Christmas day, Jeff and I exchanged our gifts … and relaxed. I felt completely spoiled because I got to lie on the couch, read a good book – The Winter Palace by Eva Stachniak – A Novel of Catherine the Great- and indulge in chocolate and left-over goodies from our party.
As I read more and more historical fiction with romance it makes me think about the genre of Romance. I think a lot of people who don’t know the genre see it only as the stories about Dukes and Earls, maids and their chances of snatching a royal, always with a fairytale ending. Fun reading for sure, but there is so much more to Historical Romance!
Take for instant three novels by Karleen Koen: Through a Glass Darkly, Dark Angels and Now Face to Face. They’re full of Countesses, Dukes, Duchesses, A French Court…etc. They are a great read, well written and researched and for a historical fiction fan I was in heaven! There is intrigue, lust, love, and romance a plenty, yet anyone who loves historical fiction, can also find them satisfying.
My books certainly meet the genre of Historical Romance yet, The Traveled Heart is set in America in the late 1800’s. Â Some English influence is brought in with the devious Frederick Moore, but mainly the romance, lust, wealth and adventures take place in America.
My hope is that historical romance will be known as a more diverse genre. So many of us have a lot to contribute to this entertaining part of literature.
Is it time for turkey yet? I’m mostly vegetarian and have been all of my adult life, but I cannot resist a good ol’ fashion Thanksgiving dinner!! Well, this post isn’t about that … ok V focus!!
I will be sharing some of my good reads with you. I like history… a lot… so I love reading about the lives of those lived in other centuries. Â And it’s always so great to read the author’s notes and find out that the person or persons in the novel were based on actual people.
That was the case in my latest read: Confessions of a Courtesan by Deborah Hale, writing as Elizabeth Charles. Talk about a page turner. It could be found under Historical Fiction, but also I would add Historical Romance too.
It’s about a young woman in 18th century who rises up from living on the filthy streets of London to become one of the most sought after courtesans in England. Her struggles make you think of how awful is was for women back in the day before we stood up for our rights. And I questioned what I would do to survive given the same circumstances.
It’s steamy, sexy, gritty and so compelling. I rooted for Lizzy and at times wanted to sit her down and give her some sane advice! That’s good character development!
The plots are riveting and I couldn’t put it down. If you like this type of novel- check this one out.
